E3 2006: Warhammer Online 360?

IGN was able to meet up with Mythic Entertainment, the folks behind the upcoming PC MMORPG, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, where they were apparently shown a prototype of the game running on the Xbox 360 console. Now according to IGN’s writers, Mythic informed them that they are considering porting over the MMORPG to both the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles. However, if Mythic does decide to port the game to next-gen consoles, they apparently plan to make a few changes…

The representatives from Mythic explained to IGN that if they do port the game, it is likely that they will “simplify” some parts of the game to give console gamers a better overall experienced tailored to the lack of history consoles have with MMORPG. Now while that might sound disappointing, IGN also clarifies that it is also probable they might add in exclusive content.

During the meeting with Mythic, IGN did oversee a presentation of the Xbox 360 running an orc character on a live server interacting with a PC character, exhibiting Warhammer’s cross-platform capabilities. However, in the likelihood that the game is simplified for console gamers, you can expect Mythic to pull the plug on any cross-platform feature that will hinder the gameplay experience for gamers. In the event Mythic officially announces Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning coming to the 360 we will keep you updated.

On a side note, this is not the same MMORPG that Games Workshop had been working on. The previous Warhammer Online that Games Workshop developed was completely scrapped and the title moved to Mythic.

Not into warhammer so the brand isn’t important, but MMORPG’s are cool, and the 360 needs a few decent examples of the genre. could be cool.

I’m fine with Warhammer but that screenshot doesn’t look good.
The surrounding reminds me of WoW and the dwarf is just plain ugly.
The way Mythic handled Dark Age of Camelot tells me to stay away.
Mythic started out with DAoC looking very promising but they slowly turned it into a complete time sinkhole, grind game. The game actually got worse with time even though they were constantly working on improving it.

i really dont think that mmo’s will take off like they did on pc - not enought people will buy xbox and even less will pay a monthly fee to play these. maybe one or two will be big but certainly not very many.

this will be good only if you dont have to pay monthly. if they make it and you dont have to pay monthly it will be fantastic!!!
